God be with you.
And also with you.
Let us pray.
Creator of the Universe, beside your altars the sparrows find their homes, the swallows make their nest. Your splendors are seen in the fleeting blaze of autumnal beauty, in snowfall and wildflowers and the bright summer sun. You give all your creatures breath. We thank you and we bless you for all that you have made - the beauties of the earth and sky, the joys and graces of our lives. Make us and our leaders good stewards of these fragile, precious gifts that we may use them rightly and always to your honor and glory. Inspire and strengthen us to give to you and to those in need as generously as you have given to us, O God Most High.
God in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Living God, Lord of Hosts, happy are the people whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set upon the pilgrim’s quest. Lead your Church through desolate places and from height to height. Take us as we are, summon out what we shall be, set your seal upon our hearts and live within us.
In the Evanston Deanery, this week, we pray to you for the people of Saint Giles Church in Northbrook and Court their Rector. Gracious Truth, meet us on our way, teach us to pray and to hear your voice. Help us to faithfully live the words we humbly pray.
God in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Firm Foundation of our lives, you are a mighty rock within a weary land, a home within the wilderness, a rest upon the way. We bring to you those who are burdened with physical and mental illness, with fear and stress, with financial and legal difficulties, with feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. We lift into your light today all those we now name, silently or aloud: Sally, Sherry Ben, Cheryl, Griffin, and Doug. Are there others?
Merciful God, give them aid, strengthen them, help them, cause them to stand. Be with them in their troubles and bless them that they might find in you refreshment, peace, and wholeness.
We commend to your mercy all who have died especially those we now name silently or aloud. (Silence) Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon them.
God in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Almighty and everlasting God, increase in us the gifts of faith, hope, and charity; and, that we may obtain what you promise, make us love what you command; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. The Book of Common Prayer
Amen.
