We are committed to making a difference in our community, locally and nationally, and in the wider world. St. Elisabeth's has been part of programs for many years, such as the Interfaith Soup Kitchen in Evanston, and continues to discern new ways that we can effectively make things better, such as our Ready for School campaign during the summer of 2010.
Each week at the 10 AM service, the children of our parish collect nonperishable food that is taken by a Sunday School family every month to the New Trier Food Pantry.
We dedicate part of our annual operating budget to go directly to charitable agencies and ministries. A group of parishioners, open to any and all who are interested, meets annually to consider organizations that St. Elisabeth's can help make a difference.
Last year, St. Elisabeth's provided funds to:
- Samaritan Counseling Center
- Glencoe Youth Series
- Episcopal Charities and Community Services of the Diocese of Chicago
- Family Service of Glencoe
- Interfaith Housing Center of the Northern Suburbs, the Committee for Senior Housing in Glencoe
- Canterbury House (Northwestern University) and Brent House (University of Chicago) Campus Ministries
- The Rev. N'dung'u and Rose Ikenye, missionaries sent by the Diocese of Chicago to the Diocese of Thika and St. Paul's University.
Making a difference...
